Rapid City, SD – Backed by a strong parent association, the Center Of The Nation Quarter Horse Association Futurity continues to thrive by offering successful promotion of the American Quarter Horse.  The 2008 edition of the CONQHA Futurity, held in conjunction with the Central States Fair in Rapid City, SD, once again drew large numbers competing in a wide range of events.

Presented at both the Bray Arena and the Pennington County Expo Center on August 17th and 18th, secretary Shirley Sellman from Chadron, NE, recorded 75 entries competing for a purse of $8,571.08.  The association offers a sealed bid stallion service auction each year promoting the progeny of many of the nations leading sires – both halter and in the performance arena.  Foals from these nominated stallions are then eligible to compete each year for prize money in halter classes starting as weanlings, yearling longe line, western pleasure, trail and reining throughout their show careers.

New in 2008 at the CONQHA Futurity was the welcome addition of added money - sponsorship was provided by the Rapid City Quarter Horse Association and the Black Hills Riding Club.  Judges for the 2 day/3 judge format were Michael Havens, Michigan, Rick Bailey, Iowa, and Mary Luther from Michigan.
